Using Sendem with the 

DICE Alarm Monitoring System 

 

Introduction

 

DICE operators may use the Windows clipboard to minimise data entry when dispatching jobs or receiving details of outcomes via Sendem. This page explains to do this.

Creating a job in Sendem

 

Open the Sendem Monitor or log in to Sendem as per the instructions in the previous page.

 

In the DICE screen you use for entering instructions to a patrol company (above)

 

Enter the instructions

Using the mouse, highlight the area shown by the red box above.

  >> The area must include the words Account Number:. It can start above this line. 
  >> The area must include the instructions (green area, above). 
  >> The area must be wide enough to include the instructions (the purple area, above) but not wide enough to include the information to the right of this 

Now right click in the area and select Copy (as above).

 

Press Alt-Tab (hold down the Alt key and press the Tab key) to switch to Sendem, or click the Sendem icon in the taskbar at the bottom of your window.

 

Click the New Job from Clipboard button at the bottom of the Sendem page, or the Copy from Clipboard button in the Sendem Monitor. If the button is not visible

 

Make sure you are on the Jobs List page. If not, click Jobs on the top menu.
If you are not a DICE user, the button may be hidden.

 

If you have copied the correct part of the DICE screen, a new job will be created and will appear at the top of the list of jobs.

 

If you are using a browser other than Internet Explorer, your IT support person may have to configure it to allow clipboard access. Please ask them to view the instructions here.

 

Dispatching the job

 

If you are using the Sendem Monitor, refer to Sendem Monitor help.

 

If no name appears in the 'Service Provider' column next to the job, click the pencil icon Pencil Iconto the left of the job to open the Job Details page. Click in the Service Provider box to highlight it:

 

Type in the first few letters of the provider name:

Provider Found

 

When the provider name appears, click on the name or press Enter to select it. Check that the 'Request' details are correct (top of page) and then click the Save the Job Changes button (bottom of page).

 

The job is now on the way to the Service Provider.

 

Seal checks

 

If you are using the Sendem Monitor, refer to Sendem Monitor help.

 

When the remote user requests a seal, the job status is shown as 'Seal Requested' and a beep sounds. To grant or deny the seal

 

Open the job using the pencil icon Pencil Iconto the left of the job in the list.
Check the Outcome field (lower left) for any information from the Service Provider.
Change the Seal Status (lower right) to the appropriate setting.
Click Save the Job Changes to send your response to the service provider and return to the job list.

 

Copying results

 

Click the clipboard icon  to the left of the job to copy details to the Windows clipboard. Now you can paste them into DICE or another application.
